How we collaborate on your custom project

Step 1:
Consultation

Kick off your project by filling out my contact form, and I’ll be in touch to set up a free 30-minute consultation where we’ll talk about the scope of your project, your studio practice, materials, and next steps.

The more specific you can be with what you’re looking for, the better guidance I can offer, including solutions or techniques you may not have even known were possible.

Step 2:
Prototyping

Every material has its own personality and response to the heat of the laser. At FreeFall, you aren’t limited to stock materials. I can work with the specific materials you desire, as long as it is laser-safe.

I’ll test your material and depending on the scope of your project, will begin creating the laser cutting files, prototyping, or going straight into production. Whatever shape your project takes, the goal is the same: to work out all the kinks and refine your design, so you’ll feel confident we’ve captured your vision before moving into production.

Step 3:
Production

It’s production time! This is the stage where I apply my most intense focus and attention to detail to ensure you’re happy with the items you’ve been excitedly waiting for.

Instead of rushing to get the job done, I create efficient workflows to optimize production time without sacrificing quality. But don’t worry, I work with you in advance to set and meet your deadline, so the completed project reaches your home, studio, or organization when you need it—and more importantly, how you envisioned it.

FAQ

What are the size limitations? I can work with materials up to 18” x 32” with a cutting/engraving area of 17.5” x 31.5”, cut up to 1/4” thick, and engrave objects up to 6” deep.

I don’t know how to make laser cutting files. Can you do it for me? Yes! If you don’t know how to make vector files I can make them for you. During the consultation we will talk about what you’ll need to provide, so I can make your files for you.

Do you have a project minimum? I don’t have a minimum quantity as most of the projects I work on are one-of-a-kind, though smaller or trial projects take at least 30-minutes or more to complete. I encourage you to complete the contact form so I can learn about your laser cutting project and give a clear answer to this question based on your specific needs.

Can I work with you in your studio? Absolutely! I love in-person collaborations, and invite you to schedule an appointment to work with me one-on-one. I offer half, full-day, and multi-day sessions where you can gain hands-on experience as we find the right solution for your project.
